Using JMAG RT model for simulating DMD in EESMs

This presentation outlines the application of the JMAG RT model in simulating Dynamic Motor Drive (DMD) technology for Enhanced Efficiency Synchronous Motors (EESMs). DMD, integrated with Field-Oriented Control (FOC) and a simplified inverter model, demonstrates up to 3% energy savings by imperceptibly modulating motor torque during real-world drive cycles. The methodology combines high-fidelity co-simulations using GT-Suite and JMAG-RT for drive cycle analysis with iron loss computations through hybrid real-time and finite element analysis (RT+FEA). Results from dyno testing and simulations validate significant reductions in battery energy consumption and motor losses, highlighting the effectiveness of DMD in advancing electric vehicle efficiency.
