Electric motors and inverters are central to modern electrification, making their optimization crucial for efficiency, sustainability, and performance. Accurately evaluating losses in both components is a key challenge in motor drive design. This webinar will demonstrate how the combined use of SIMBA and JMAG provides fast and accurate solutions to these challenges. We will first present a streamlined simulation workflow using SIMBA integrated with a JMAG-RT model. This approach enables rapid evaluation of inverter, iron, and copper losses in the motor, allowing engineers to generate complete drive efficiency maps in just a few minutes. For applications requiring higher accuracyβsuch as the analysis of permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs)βor greater flexibility when working with evolving motor designs, we will introduce a co-simulation method using JMAG and SIMBA. Unlike JMAG-RT models, which can be time-consuming to generate and must be recreated whenever motor parameters change, co-simulation provides a more adaptable and precise workflow. It will also provide detailed loss analysis, including magnet losses due to eddy currents caused by inverter-induced current harmonics. Discover how integrating SIMBA and JMAG can accelerate motor drive development while improving simulation fidelity and design confidence.
